I want to share the message of sports-based youth development, and I wish there were a quick way to do it. But alas, there are a lot of moving parts. However, the quickest way to do that would be this:
Sports can change lives, for better or for worse.
People often operate under the assumption that sport participation is good for kids, but they often skip over the part where things can go terribly wrong. If you want kids to have good experiences in sports, if you want sports to change them for the better, you have to be intentional about it. This is why I continue to push the framework of sports-based youth development.
